An at-home exfoliating scrub can wash away dead, dry skin cells to reveal smoother skin and a radiant glow. But why not take your skincare regimen to the next step – with a chemical peel refreshes your skin’s tone and reduces superficial lines, scarring and discoloration?
Cobb Dermatology & Aesthetics offers a range of exfoliating chemical peels in different strength levels to address skin imperfections. Our retinol- and acid-based chemical peels are designed with the highest-quality, pharmaceutical-grade ingredients specially formulated for all skin types, including sensitive skin.
And because our peels are administered in a medical office, they can penetrate deeper into the skin when compared to a traditional spa-level peel for more dramatic results and fewer side effects. After just one peel, your skin will appear smoother, brighter and younger.
As a chemical peel expert in Central Virginia, Dr. Kristen Kuk combines her medical expertise with the latest aesthetics breakthroughs to help you achieve smoother, more youthful-looking skin.
During your consultation, Dr. Kuk will discuss your goals to determine the specific peel ingredients and strengths that will best address your skin concerns.
Chemical peels effectively treat:
A chemical peel involves the application of an exfoliating retinol or acid that removes the dead skin cells in the top layers of the skin, allowing smoother, healthier skin to take its place. The strength of the peel determines the depth of the exfoliation and can be very mild or more aggressive, depending on the patient’s goals and skin type. Generally, patients get the best results when they complete a series of chemical peels, each spaced about a month apart.
During your treatment, your provider will apply a peel solution/combination of acids to your skin, depending on the skin conditions you wish to treat. You will feel a mild stinging while the solution is on your skin before it is washed away with a neutralizing solution.
Immediately after your peel, your skin may appear red or pink. Your skin may feel tight or warm. Over the next week, it will gradually begin to peel and flake as new, healthier skin emerges. It’s important not to pick at the skin during this time and just let the process occur naturally. You should also use a gentle cleanser and hydrating moisturizer to help with dryness and stay out of the sun as your skin will be sensitive.
Depending on the strength of the peel, it can treat everything from fine lines and wrinkles to hyperpigmentation and acne. Dr. Kuk will work closely with you to determine the best course of action to achieve the results you desire.
